How to create and manage a geofence for a post site on the Back Office Dashboard?

The Geofence feature in GuardsPro allows you to create virtual boundaries around post sites to define authorized areas where guards are permitted to move and restricted areas they should avoid.

Every time a guard enters or exits a geofence, the admin is notified, ensuring safety, compliance, and accountability. This strengthens operational control, builds client trust, and enhances transparency across your security operations.

📌 Note: To receive guard entry and exit notifications, make sure the required notification setting is enabled from the Back Office Dashboard.

✅ This guide will walk you through the steps to create and manage geofences on the Back Office Dashboard:

🧭 Step 1: Navigate to Post Sites

• Click on the Clients tab in the main menu.

• Select Post Sites from the dropdown.

• Choose the post site where you’d like to create a geofence.

📍 Step 2: Add a Geofence

• Go to the Geofence tab under the Post Site submenu, then click Add Geofence.
• From the dropdown, select whether you want to define restricted or allowed areas on the client site.
• The geofence will be highlighted on the map:
  • Allowed areas → 🟢 Green
  • Restricted areas → 🔴 Red

• While creating the geofence, you can also use the map and satellite view options, switch to full‑screen mode, and adjust the map with zoom in/zoom out controls for better accuracy.

• Additionally, you can switch between different map actions: Roadmap, Satellite, Hybrid, and Terrain to visualize the site in the way that best suits your needs.

🚧 Step 3: Define Geofence Boundaries

• Use the circle icon at the top of the map to create a geofence.

• Tap on your desired location and drag the cursor to generate a circular geofence.

• Tap again to view boundaries marked by white dots:

  • Drag outer dots to resize.

  • Drag the center dot to reposition.

⚠️ Note: Avoid creating overlapping geofences, as they can lead to unclear boundaries, inaccurate guard tracking, and confusion. Always ensure a single perimeter covers the entire post site.

👉 Once done, click Save to apply changes.

📄 Step 4: Edit or Delete Geofences

To edit: Click the three‑dot menu next to the existing geofence and select Edit. Drag or resize as needed, then click Save.

To delete: Click the three‑dot menu and select Delete.

⚠️ Disclaimer: Choosing the Right Geofence Radius

For the best geofence performance, we recommend setting a radius between 100 and 150 meters around the post site.

The accuracy of a guard’s location can vary depending on the available location services:

• Wi-Fi available: Location accuracy is typically strongest around 20–50 meters.

• Indoor location data available: Accuracy can improve to as little as 5 meters.

• Indoor location data unavailable:  it is recommended to consider an estimated location accuracy of approximately 50 meters.

If Wi-Fi or other accurate location data is not available at the post site, consider using a larger geofence radius to account for potential variations in location accuracy and help prevent false entry or exit notifications.

💡 Note: When choosing the radius, consider the size of the post site and the expected location accuracy at that location. A radius that is too small may result in inaccurate or unexpected geofence alerts.
