GuardsPro lets you build virtual perimeters on post sites called geofences to mark the authorized areas within which the guard is allowed to move on the client site and the restricted areas that the guard needs to keep off. Every time the guard moves in or out of the geofence the admin is informed about the violations to keep the guards safe and compliant with the area accessibility as defined by the client.
Creating geofence is a simple process:
Click on the Clients on the main menu and select Post Sites from the drop-down to see a list of all the post sites. Now click on the concerned post site where you'd like to create a geofence.
Go to the Geofence tab and click on the Add Geofence. From the drop-down, select if you want to define the restricted or allowed areas on the client site.
There are two icons on the top of the map. You can use the hand icon to zoom in or zoom out of the post site. Use the circle to draw a circular geofence on the post site. Please note that users are restricted from overlapping geofences, ensuring distinct boundaries and reducing the risk of confusion due to overlapping.
Next, the geofence so created will be highlighted on the map. The allowed areas are highlighted in green while restricted areas are shown in red. When setting up your geofence, make sure to create a single one that covers the entire post site. It's important not to have multiple red and green geofences overlapping each other. This will help ensure smooth and accurate functionality.
Now just go ahead and click on Save. And that's it, you have created a geofence on the site.
Editing Geofences
You can also edit a previously created geofence.
Simply click on the three dots from the list of geofences on the post site and select edit.
You can drag the geofence to change the placement on the map, or you can expand or shrink the area covered. Once you’ve made the desired changes, simply click Save.
Similarly, you can delete a geofence. Click on the three dots and select Remove from the drop-down.
To get notified about the guard movement in and out of the geofence area, make sure you have enabled notification for guard's entry and exit from the geofenced area.
Disclaimer: Choose the optimal radius for your geofence
To ensure optimal geofence performance, it's advisable to select a radius within the range of 100 to 150 meters. Location accuracy is typically at its best, ranging from 20 to 50 meters when Wi-Fi is accessible. Indoor location capabilities can further enhance accuracy to as little as 5 meters, but it's important to note that when indoor location data is not available within the geofence area, it's prudent to work with an assumed Wi-Fi location accuracy of around 50 meters.
In situations where Wi-Fi location data is unavailable, location accuracy can significantly diminish. In such cases, accuracy may span from several hundred meters to several kilometers. To address this, it's recommended to create geofences with a larger radius to accommodate the variability in location accuracy.
