Open-shifts are a great way to fill in client requirements at the last minute and also allow the guard to take advantage of working extra hours based on their availability. The feature lets you create shifts that are open to all guards. The guards are notified of the availability of the open shifts on the GuardsPro Mobile App and the guards can choose and confirm the shifts they want to work for.
First of all click on the Scheduler tab from the main menu and select Schedule from the drop-down. You can use the filters to view the schedules for a client, post site, guard, shifts based on type and status, and for a custom date range.
Next, click on the date for which the guard has to be scheduled and select the Create Open Shift.
On the next screen, now one-by-one add all the details from shift title to start and end time to guard you wish to schedule in the form. Ensure open shift is selected under the shift type option and mention the number of guards needed for the shift.
Once the details are added, click on Publish to instantly relay the update to the guards or you can click on Create to save the shift so you can publish the same at some future date.
Note: You can turn on "Automatically assign and confirm open shift" from the Global Guard Settings. This allows the guards to confirm open shifts on a first come first serve basis.
This is how easy it is to create an open shift in GuardsPro.
Managing Unconfirmed Open Shifts
Sometimes it may happen that none of the guards confirms an open shift, in this case, you can simply assign the shift to a guard yourself.
To check the status of the open shifts by click on the Scheduler on the main tab and select Open Shifts from the drop-down. You can check who has confirmed the shift and if the status is pending.
If the shift has not been confirmed yet, go to the Schedule option under Scheduler. Simply click on the three dots on the unconfirmed shift and select the Edit.
Now all you need to do is change the type of the shift from open to standard, select the post site, and assign the guards to the shift and hit Publish or Update. The assigned guards are immediately notified on the GuardsPro Mobile App. This makes sure that the scheduled shift will be executed.
